As part of a Bavaria-wide project, the University of Passau Library is introducing the FOLIO library management system. Together with the academic libraries in Bavaria, the Head Office of the Bavarian Library Network and the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre, the existing library systems are being replaced step by step with modern, future-proof solutions. The system change lays the technical foundation for a modern literature supply and enables library services that are better suited to the requirements of increasingly digital use.
On this page we will keep you up to date on the progress of the project, key dates and the implications for users of the Library.
From May 2027, FOLIO will be the new library system of the University of Passau Library. It provides the technical foundation for managing media, loans and many other library services. FOLIO is an open-source software that is developed and continuously enhanced jointly by libraries worldwide.
Most of the preparations and technical work take place behind the scenes. With the introduction of the new search portal and the migration to FOLIO, there may be temporary changes to or restrictions on individual library services, for example borrowing, interlibrary loan or the library account. We will keep you informed about specific dates in good time on this page. Access to e-books, e-journals and databases is not affected by the restrictions and will remain available throughout.
