Computers, internet and Wi-Fi
Search stations in the reading rooms
All reading rooms have up to three library search stations. From these stations (called 'Bib-Portal') you can access the University Library website, the Passau Search Portal and selected library search platforms in the region and beyond. Using these devices, you can also access e-books, e-journals and databases licensed for the University computer network.
Computer room ('PC Pool') computers in the reading rooms
So-called 'Pool PCs' are available in the entrance areas of all reading rooms. Use your ZIM username and password to sign in to these. The Pool PCs cannot be used by external library users (i.e. non-university members).
Wi-Fi
The reading rooms and other freely accessible rooms (group work rooms, library lounge, central library learning room) are equipped with Wi-Fi access points. You must have your eduroam certificate installed on your device to connect to the wireless network. You will need your ZIM username and password to log in. The University's Wi-Fi network is not open to non-university members.
Bayern Wi-Fi
Non-university members can use Bayern Wi-fi. It is free of charge. Licenced library content (e-books, e-journals, databases) is not available.
Wi-Fi issues
Experiencing Wi-Fi connectivity issues or slow internet access? Try the ZIM Wi-Fi problem detector.
The ZIM is your primary contact if you have trouble getting online: ZIM Support, room 136 in the Computer Science and Mathematics Building (Innstrasse 33).
Wired network connections
You can connect your notebook computer to a network socket if you bring your own network cable. Provided you have made the relevant configuration settings on your device, you can log in using your library user number (the number printed on the back of your CampusCard or library user card starting with '064'). The wired network connection can also be used by external visitors who have a library card.
