Reduction of reading room desk spaces from 4 March

The minimum distance of 1.5 metres will be reintroduced throughout the library premises. In turn this means you no longer have to wear a face mask while seated at a desk.

| Reading time: 1 min.

On 27 January, the number of approved desks in the reading rooms was temporarily increased to accommodate the increasing demand during the examination period. Since the reading rooms are significantly less frequented now, as was expected, and the idea in general is to allow users to study without wearing a face mask, the University Library is switching back to the initial situation.

This means that from Friday, 4 March 2022, the number of desks allowed in the reading rooms will again be reduced to ensure a minimum distance of 1.5 metres between all desk users.

You can take off your face mask while seated at your desk.

The University Library would like to take this opportunity to remind you that it is legally bound by the 15th Bavarian disease control ordinance (BayIfSMV) when it comes to arranging reading-room desk places. The ordinance also says that the mask-wearing obligation can only be lifted in situations where the minimum distance is reliably observed in libraries.
