Pursuant to the 12th Bavarian disease control ordinance (German text), the University Library will, furthermore, reopen the reading rooms to the public starting Monday, 15 March 2021.
All five reading rooms will operate using the above scheme, and open initially from Mondays to Fridays. An FFP2 mask must be worn at all times while on library premises.
Longer visits/desk reservations
All university members can make their reservations online. The timeslots at all five reading rooms are from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Short visits without desk:
All library visitors, including non-university members, may go to a reading room to borrow, return and copy media. No prior appointment is necessary but the duration is limited to one hour. The open shelf areas are accessible to short-term users, but not the library desk areas. The central library is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for short visits; the other reading rooms are open for short visits from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
As the reading rooms reopen, the University Library will discontinue the delivery service via in-house mail and the scanning service for academics. Academic staff are therefore encouraged to make use of the short visit scheme to borrow and scan media.
Online requests for books from the reading rooms are still accepted until 12 noon on Thursday, 11 March, whereupon this ordering option will be turned off. Requests that reach the University Library by the deadline will be ready for collection in the Central Library from 10 a.m. on Friday at the latest.
The scanning service for students and external users will continue to be offered for those who are not currently in Passau or the surrounding district. Students in Passau are asked to make their own scans under the short visit scheme.
