When you visit the Central Library, you may be surprised to find a completely new room where the collection area for requested books used to be before the one-and-a-half year renovation phase. This newly repurposed ‘study room’ (‘Lernraum’) houses an additional 52 library desks, but what makes it really special is its mobile furniture, which can be rearranged for working in groups.
What’s more, if you need to get away from the hustle and bustle, you can use one of two green ‘learning berths’ (‘Lernkojen’) in this room. Conceived as a quiet space, when you sit in one of these berths you are shielded from the sights and sounds of the library, allowing you to really focus on your studies.
Finally, the reserve collections, which we had to move to the book tower for the duration of the renovating work, are now located in this study room. And if you’re wondering where the collection area has gone: this is now located across from the borrowing desk.
