InfoGuide statusUser groupsBorrowing rules
'Open-access shelving'Students and users living in Passau and the region

The reading room collection (including holdings in the Book Tower and the theology holdings in the Central Library basement) is part of the reference collection and generally unavailable for longer-term borrowing. They are, however, available for overnight (Mon – Thurs) or weekend loan.

You may borrow up to ten books at a time.

The weekend loan period starts Friday 11:00 a.m.; books must be returned by Monday 12:00 noon.

The overnight loan (Mon – Thurs) period starts two hours before the reading room closes, or 8:00 p.m., whichever comes first. Books borrowed overnight must be returned by 9:00 a.m. the following day.

The following applies to all loans from the reading room collections:
  • Take the book/item from its shelf location
  • Take the book/item to the reading room desk for check-out or to return it
  • Be sure to strictly observe the returns deadline for overnight and weekend loans: failing to return an item on time will immediately result in an overdue notice and a fine!
  • Renewals or reservations are not available for these books/items
